The big event has come. It’s time for the bachelor party. Years of friendship, months of planning, and weeks of excitement come down to this! Want to turn it up a notch? Then read on…

Drinking games and bachelor parties go together like chips and dips so here is a run-down on 10 all-time classics that you can play to get the party started.

1. Ring of Fire

Equipment needed - 1 large cup/pint glass and a deck of cards

How to play:

Place all cards face down in a circle around the cup in the middle. Players then take turns, to flip over cards, each card has a different rule as below:

Ace. Waterfall – Everyone should keep drinking until the person who picked the card stops. So, who knows how long you will be going for!

2 is Choose – You can choose someone to drink

3. is Me – You must drink

4. is Wh*re – All girls must drink (For bachelor parties this can be all guys like number 6

5. Thumb Master- When you put your thumb on the table everyone must follow and whoever is last must drink. You are the thumb master till someone else picks a five.

6. is Dicks – All guys drink

7. is Heaven – Point your finger in the sky, whoever is last must drink

8. is Mate – Choose someone to drink with you as your drinking buddy, they should always drink with you.

9. Rhyme – Pick a word such as fog and the person next to you must rhyme with fog, like dog, and it goes to the next person and the next, in a circle, until someone messes up and he will have to drink

10. Categories- Pick a category such as football and you go in a circle and everyone has to say a word that fits with football such as: touchdown, field goal, USC. Whoever messes up, drinks.

Jack. Make a Rule – You can make up any rule that everyone has to follow, such as you can only drink with your left hand. Everyone (including you) must follow this rule for the whole game and if you disobey you must drink.

Queen. Questions – Go around in a circle and you have to keep asking questions to each other. Doesn’t matter what the question is, as long as it's a question. Whoever messes up and does not say a question, drinks.

King. Pour!- You must pour a little of your drink into the cup that is in the middle of the table. Whoever picks up the LAST king must drink the whole cup, which could be filled with different drinks, so who knows how bad it could taste!

2. Roxanne

Equipment needed – The song “Roxanne” by the Police

How to play:

This one is very simple (but that doesn’t mean it’s easy!) split your bachelor party group into two teams. One team takes a drink every time you hear “Roxanne” and the other team drinks when they hear “put on a red light”. Warning – it gets tough!

3. Horse Racing

Equipment needed – Playing cards and a large flat surface.

How to play:

Take the 4 ace cards out of the pack and lay them face up at the end of the table, these cards act as the horses in the game. Shuffle the rest of the cards and then place a row of cards face down (10+) alongside the aces (to create an L Shape).

Everyone in the bachelor party now picks one of the aces, as their horse, who they are “backing” to win the race! Everyone can place a bet in terms of how many “gulps” on their horse winning.

Now the fun part starts – designate someone to turn over the cards along the side one by one. If your ace (horse) matches the suit of the card that has been turned over it can advance to the next hurdle. Eventually, a horse/ace will win the race when the final card is turned over.

Whoever has picked the right ace/horse can now distribute the number of “gulps” that they bet on at the start to other members of the bachelor party.

 4. Categories

Equipment needed - None

How to play:

This is a fun one and very simple. One person will name a category (for example – football teams, countries, types of pasta, or anything that has multiple answers). Players take it in turn to answer, if they can’t think of anything, stutter, or repeat an already given answer – they drink!

5. Drink While You Think

Equipment needed – None

How to play:

This game is similar to categories but slightly more reckless! The first person has to think of a name of a celebrity i.e. Tom Cruise.

The person next to them in the circle then needs to start drinking their drink until they think of their answer. However, their celebrity name must start with a C from Cruise.

If someone uses a celebrity with a double letter i.e. Ryan Reynolds the direction of the game changes and goes the other way around the circle.

It’s amazing how much more difficult it is to think of an answer when you are guzzling down a bunch of lager at the same time!

6. Beer Pong

Equipment needed – Cups, Ping Pong Ball, Large Table/Flat Surface

How to play:

This one needs little introduction and we would be surprised if anyone reading this hasn’t played it before. The game typically involves 4 people in teams of 2 with 10 cups filled with beer placed on each team’s side of the table in a pyramid formation.

Teams take it in turns throwing ping pong balls at the opposition’s cups, if they land the ball into a cup the opposition must drink the contents within the cup. When all the cups are empty on the opposition’s cups then that team has won.

7. God Save the Queen

Equipment needed – A coin

How to play:

This game originated in the United Kingdom due to the nature of the Queen’s head on the coins. However, it can be played with any coin around the world. The game is simple – throw your coin towards a glass of a member in your bachelor party. If it drops in, they have to down their drink as quickly as possible. Carnage!

8. Thumbmaster

Equipment needed – your thumb!

How to play:

Someone is designated as “thumb master,” they can place their thumb on the table at any time during a drinking session in a pub. Everyone must follow when they see this happening, the last person to place their thumb on the table loses and must down their drink! They then become the thumb master.

9. 21

Equipment needed – None.

How to play:

If you’re looking for a simple drinking game for your bachelor party then it doesn’t get much easier than this one. All you need is a group of players in a circle and you take it in turns counting in a sequence from 1 to 21. If you end up saying 21 then you are the loser and must take a drink.

Simple Rules:

If someone calls out a single number then it moves to the next person i.e., 9.

If someone calls out two numbers in succession i.e., 9,10 then the direction of play is reversed.

If someone calls out three numbers in succession i.e., 9,10,11 the next player is skipped.

To make the game more difficult you can start swapping numbers for certain rules for example instead of saying 10 you have to clap etc.

10. Arrogance

Equipment needed – a pint glass and a coin.

How to play:

Another game with very simple rules that is easy to play. The best man starts this game by pouring some of his drink into the communal pint glass in the middle, they can choose how much or how little they pour in. He then flips a coin and calls heads or tails, if he guesses incorrectly he has to chug down what’s in the glass but if he guesses right it moves on to the next player, who then also has to pour some of their drink into the glass.

There is a very fine balance here between stitching up one of your mates or stitching yourself up! As guys get tipsy they often get a bit more “arrogant” with the amount they pour in, hence the name of the game!

We hope these bachelor party drinking games help you have a bit of extra fun over your weekend (not that you will need it!) They are also great icebreakers if there are some members of the group who are not known by everybody else.

But REMEMBER…

Drinking games are fun and we are all about having a great time but please drink responsibly and in moderation when playing drinking games. Nobody in the group should feel under pressure to take part or drink more than they are comfortable with. Take care of yourselves and your friends to ensure the weekend is fun and safe for everyone!
